An Incredible Chemistry

Everyone wants to be brave, but no one wants to be vulnerable. - Dr. Brene Brown Each weekend I spend a couple hours in my own personal study session reading up on current events, big ideas, and rationalizations. I enjoy this time because, at the very least, it makes me feel like I'm "keeping up" (as false as that is). More so, I enjoy challenging the mold that my mind has created from the previous week's work. Some reading that got me thinking over the weekend was an interview with… READ MORE

A Financial Fortress

Warren Buffett released the Bershire Hathaway Inc. annual letter to shareholders over the weekend and for investors, and business owners alike, he delivered some value nuggets. This was absolutely one of my favorites: Berkshire will forever remain a financial fortress. In managing, I will make expensive mistakes of commission and will also miss many opportunities, some of which should have been obvious to me. At times, our stock will tumble as investors flee from equities. But I will never risk getting caught short of cash. I read the shareholder letter… READ MORE

Find Me a Great Team

"Find me a great team and I'll find a way we can make money." I can't recall where I heard it, but that statement has been ruminating in my mind ever since. When it comes to building a great team, I definitely overthink it. I don't know any other way to do it. You can read the stories on team building and you'll hear the same core elements. The authors make it all seem quite trivial, although anyone with experience buildling great teams understands it’s not. In fact, the greatest… READ MORE

I’m Gonna Show You

This tweet came across my Twitter feed recently. It's a mash-up of Steve Kerr talking to Steph Curry at different moments of different games. It's a great one, despite who you root for in the NBA. Surround yourself with people who believe in you the way Steve Kerr believes in Steph Currypic.twitter.com/yYOhhgRuto— Jason McIntyre (@jasonrmcintyre) January 26, 2018 Steve Kerr is of the rarest kind when it comes to character and leadership. Compliments…

On A Job Well Done There are many things in life, and in business, that seem trivial on the surface. There are times when I find myself thinking about such things. We wrapped up Q2 and in reflecting on the time spent I was thinking about some of the compliments we received from our clients. Everyone appreciates and is capable of receiving a compliment. But one thing that strikes me every time is that it takes a special person to deliver a compliment. Something new that struck me as I… READ MORE
