Find Me a Great Team

"Find me a great team and I'll find a way we can make money." I can't recall where I heard it, but that statement has been ruminating in my mind ever since. When it comes to building a great team, I definitely overthink it. I don't know any other way to do it. You can read the stories on team building and you'll hear the same core elements. I’m Gonna Show You

This tweet came across my Twitter feed recently. It's a mash-up of Steve Kerr talking to Steph Curry at different moments of different games. It's a great one, despite who you root for in the NBA. Trust the Process

"Trust the process" is a cliché. But it's one I believe in. I was listening to an interview that Scott Galloway did with Barry Ritholtz of Ritholtz Wealth Management and I was intrigued by what Barry said about process: "People confuse outcomes with process." There is so much great truth to unpack in that 15 second segment. You can watch the full interview here. One of the great points Barry makes in the interview is that sound investments can be made after huge selloffs where processes are still valid. Processes… READ MORE

Wrestling with weblogs…

I've been wrestling for years with how to do this weblog. After too much internal debate, I sought input from mentors and decided that the best approach is to just get on with it. And here we go.It was an important first step to identify what we wanted to get out of blogging. I've seen these efforts fail and always believed it was because the expectations were not clear. While these expectations are my own, my hope is that they'll serve as a guidepost for our team as we build… READ MORE
